Did you know some fraudsters work full-time to steal money? We want to keep you safe from the scams, such as some of the latest ones involving Zelle®.
Remember, when it comes to sharing personal information with Park Bank, only provide info if you’ve called us directly. Don’t share sensitive information after you pick up a call, receive a text message or open emails appearing to come from Park Bank.
Here are some common red flags that can help you to identify a scam:
- Unknown Recipient or Sender - Be on the lookout for a request for you to send money to an unknown recipient or an overpayment waiting to be sent back. Double check the sender's email address to ensure it is coming from a valid domain or source.
- Time Sensitivity - Scammers may try to play off your emotion by suggesting that your response or action is "urgent" or must be taken care of "immediately."
- Email Formatting - If you receive an email that contains font of different sizes and colors, misspellings, or inconsistent formatting in general, this should alert you to reevaluate whether or not it is a scam.
Key Tips for Staying Safe
- Steer Clear of Phishing Calls and Emails - Fraudsters today are able to spoof calls and send emails that look like they are from your bank. Beware of clicking links, and never provide information over the phone.
- Don't Share Personal Details Online - Check your settings and permissions on each social platform, and activate any additional security features available, like two-factor authentication. Don't accept friend/connection requests from people you don't know.
- Sign Up for Text or Email Alerts - Sign up for account alerts, and contact Park Bank immediately if you suspect unauthorized activity.
We know getting money to friends and family quickly and safely is important, so we've provided some friendly reminders on how to "pay it safe" when you're sending money with Zelle®.
- Use Zelle® to pay friends, family and others you trust. Money is sent directly from your bank account to another person's bank account, and can't be canceled if the other person is already enrolled with Zelle®. Because of this, you should only send money to people you personally know and trust.
- Know when Zelle® is a good payment option, and when another payment method is better. If you aren't sure you will get what you paid for (for example, items bought from an online bidding or sales site), or you don't know and trust the person you're paying, we recommend you choose a different payment option. Neither Zelle® nor Park Bank offers a protection program for authorized payments made with Zelle®.
- Double check your recipient's info. One of the key benefits of using Zelle® is the ability to send money directly to another person's bank account in minutes*. That said, it's important you enter your recipient's U.S. mobile number or email address correctly. Always double check your recipient's contact info before you hit "send"!
