For nearly four decades, Stella's Bakery has been part of Madison's fabric. Since 1988, this family-owned operation has built a dedicated following with handmade baked goods and a commitment to tradition. Now, owner Jennifer Patrello is bringing that same warmth and flavor to a new location at 1219 Regent Street, which is open now officially open!

The Bread that Built a Following

Stella's original South Madison location will keep operating as their production and distribution hub, while the bakery continues its beloved Saturday tradition at the Dane County Farmers Market. On a busy Saturday, they sell up to 2,500 loaves of their Hot & Spicy Cheese Bread, a menu item born from a happy accident during an empanada batch gone wrong. The result: a blend of Wisconsin cheese, spices, and their signature sweet dough that's become their calling card.

Everything at Stella's is made from scratch, with many recipes inspired by Patrello's Jamaican and Panamanian great-grandmother. Beyond the famous cheese bread, you'll find fresh pastries, artisan loaves, and empanadas that keep clients coming back.

Something Fresh for Regent Street

The new location will feature retail space, baked goods, sandwiches, coffee, beer, wine, and an outdoor patio for guests, private events, and potentially game day gatherings. Patrello chose Regent Street intentionally—it's where local neighborhoods meet the UW-Madison campus, making it the ideal spot to serve both communities.

Stella's Bakery opens its doors where tradition, flavor, and community come together.

Stella's Bakery is now open at 1219 Regent Street, Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by to see where tradition, flavor, and community come together.
